Recovery and sober living homes can empower individuals to get the help they need, and the aftercare required to complete rehabilitation. Having a solid support system and a safe living environment allows residents to grow, and to get the accountability they need to sustain sobriety. All residents are expected to be seeking employment or working while they live in the house.
We suggest that efforts to translate research into treatment have not sufficiently appreciated how interventions are perceived and affected by various stakeholder groups . We therefore suggest that there is a need to pay attention to the community context where those interventions are delivered. In addition to studying a larger number of offenders, we hope to explore an innovative intervention designed to improve outcomes for these residents in terms of employment, arrests, and other areas. Our intervention modifies motivational interviewing to address the specific needs of the offender population .
Unlike at some other sober living homes, Eudaimonia residents are not required to attend individual therapy sessions, which can reduce the monthly cost of a sober living program. To assess current psychiatric severity we used the Brief Symptom Inventory (Derogatis & Melisaratos, 1983). Our sober living and transitional housing programs help individuals bridge the gap between treatment and the real world for the long-term. Our team aims for every client to leave our program with a plan for their life. If you entered rehab unemployed, you aren’t automatically going to be cast out on the street. For those who are actively seeking work, most rehabs and sober living home landlords are flexible. They will offer you a month to find a job anywhere, and many rehabs offer career resources including writing and updating a resume, job application assistance and possibly skill training.
Primary outcomes consisted or self report measures of alcohol and drug use. Secondary outcomes included measures of legal, employment, medical, psychiatric and family problems.
